Tell SLCPL Board of Directors: Respect SLCPL Workers United

	<thumbnail_url>https://can2-prod.s3.amazonaws.com/letters/photos/000/269/068/normal/img-7080.jpg</thumbnail_url>

Urge the Salt Lake City Public Library (SLCPL) Board of Directors to respect its workers by: agreeing to expeditiously and voluntarily recognize the SLCPL Workers United, AFSCME Local 1004, upon demonstration of majority of support passing a resolution granting collective bargaining rights to SLCPL workers, the only group of public employees in Salt Lake City who are not covered under a bargaining agreement The Salt Lake City Public Library system is the cornerstone of our neighborhoods, and library workers are valuable in providing vital services to our communities every day. Working on the front lines, our library workers have encountered various risks such as keeping the library open amidst bomb threats, serving as human bomb detectors and dealing with violence and aggression. SLCPL workers should have the right to freely organize their union and secure legal rights to collectively bargain to improve working conditions, pay, benefits, and a voice on the job, and thus provide quality services for our beloved community. A union would benefit everyone because it would give a real voice to all workers, without whom the library could not function.
