Tell the Rutgers Administration: Don’t Cut Our Writing Program!

	<thumbnail_url>https://actionnetwork.org//images/generic_facebook.jpg</thumbnail_url>

Unless they are pressured to change their minds, Rutgers-New Brunswick Chancellor Francine Conway and the university administration will inflict irreversible damage on one of the most important programs at the university: the Writing Program in the College of Arts and Sciences in New Brunswick. The number of Writing Program sections being offered next fall is drastically lower than last fall—and the administration has increased maximum class size, in spite of all the research proving that smaller class sizes are especially critical to writing instruction. Many adjunct lecturers would lose their regular classes if these cuts go through, and the burden of larger class sizes would fall on the full-time faculty who remain. Please send an email to Chancellor Conway and President Holloway urging them to reverse these damaging cuts and class size increases. Click the “Start Writing” button to be taken to a page where you can send your emails. You’ll find a sample email there, but we encourage you to add your own thoughts! If you are an educator or researcher at Rutgers, we especially urge you to express the importance of the Writing Program in your own words. If you are a student, share your concerns about having more students in writing classes, and therefore less attention and feedback from your professor.
