The bill passed the House in 2025. The next step is the Senate. Now we also have two more extreme versions – the SAVE America Act and MEGA Act – which could keep millions of eligible U.S. citizens from being able to vote and make it harder to vote by mail. Elections are currently run by members of our local communities and our states. With this bill, the federal government is attempting to seize that power. Requiring proof of citizenship to register to vote doesn’t safeguard elections, it silences voters.
