Over 1000 individual emails were sent and we received a response from the then interim Vice Chancellor, Karen Stanton. Recently it was announced that Karen Stanton has become our permanent Vice Chancellor. Therefore, we are asking UAL students, staff members, alumni and other community members to write a new letter. This letter makes Karen Stanton aware of the issues cleaners have faced systemically as a result of outsourcing and many of the events, facts and resources drawn up as part of the long-standing campaign. We are urging Professor Stanton to use her position as UAL’s new Vice Chancellor to follow the suit of several other London universities in recent years (SOAS, LSE, QMUL, KCL, Goldsmiths) and end the shameful practice of outsourcing: bring cleaners in-house!
