UFCW Members Demand the Right to Vote!

Our union. Our contracts. OUR VOTES! As UFCW International President Marc Perrone announces his plans for retirement, the UFCW International Executive Board is planning to hand-select a new president of our union. The fifty members on the International Executive Board, made up of UFCW Local Union presidents, will decide the next president of our 1.2 million member union. That’s a group the size of just 0.004% of our union will determine our next president. Many of these Local Union presidents have not held competitive elections in their own locals in decades; some have never even been UFCW members. Enough is enough. Members deserve a say. To win better union contracts — higher pay, better working conditions, better healthcare and pensions — we need a fighting union that can stand up, not cozy up, to the companies. We can’t hold our leaders accountable if we don’t even have the ability to vote them out. Take action now and demand a direct, open election for our next UFCW International President.
