President Banga Must Immediately Withdraw from Trump’s ‘Board of Peace’

	<thumbnail_url>https://can2-prod.s3.amazonaws.com/letters/photos/000/436/491/normal/Untitled_design_(13).png</thumbnail_url>

World Bank President Ajay Banga must immediately resign from his position as an Executive Board Member on Donald Trump’s so-called “Board of Peace.” His claim that he is serving in an apolitical capacity is indefensible. A private body controlled entirely by Donald Trump that decides who governs Gaza, who receives and distributes humanitarian aid, and under what conditions amid an ongoing genocide is inherently political. There is no neutrality in such a role. By participating, Banga is lending the authority and credibility of the World Bank to a body that is illegitimate and corrupt. This is especially alarming given that serving in this position reportedly violates World Bank bylaws. As Trump’s so-called peace board convenes its first official meeting on February 19 in Washington, D.C., people of conscience must demand Ajay Banga’s resignation. This body threatens the survival, self-determination, and sovereignty of the Palestinian people in Gaza. The World Bank must immediately cease any participation, coordination, or cooperation with this colonial project.
