The goal of collaborative conferencing is to renew our MOU (Memorandum of Understanding), which is another term for your contract. To renew our MOU, the law requires that we submit a petition in October to the Board of Education requesting collaborative conferencing. The petition must contain the signatures of at least 15 percent of all Sevier County educators. SCEA is collecting these signatures and hopes that you, too, will support the initiation of this process of collaborative conferencing. The law provides that SCEA will be able to conference with the Board on your salary, insurance, working conditions, fringe benefits and leave. Signing this online petition is the first step in this process. Once the petition is filed by SCEA and submitted to the school board, there will be a future poll in November to confirm educators wish to conference on these employment issues and to select who will represent teachers during the collaborative conferencing process. In November, we will need a majority of educators to vote YES and for SCEA to represent them. Please sign our online petition and share the link to the petition on your social media page(s).
