20mph speed limits in Mile Cross

	<thumbnail_url>https://can2-prod.s3.amazonaws.com/groups/default_facebook_images/000/168/798/original/GP3squarergb.png?1592141607</thumbnail_url>

Speeding is one of the most common safety concerns raised by residents in Mile Cross. Many of the approximately 3,000 children in Mile Cross walk to school. Parents have often said that they fear for their child’s safety, as well as their own. Many other residential areas in Norwich have 20mph speed limits, and the previous council approved plans to implement 20mph speed limits in Mile Cross. However, when asked by county councillor for Mile Cross Helena Wysocki for confirmation that the plans will go ahead under the new council, the Reform cabinet has said that they are now subject to review. This is despite Cllr Wysocki raising serious safety concerns from countless residents as well as the history of accidents and near misses in the area. Mile Cross residents, including children, families, older people and people with limited mobility, deserve to enjoy our streets safely. This petition calls for 20mph speed limits to be implemented within the Mile Cross estate without delay. A 20mph speed limit in Mile Cross would not stop speeding entirely, but it would mean that cars exceeding 20mph within that area are breaking the law. It would be a first step in slowing traffic and would pave the way for other traffic calming measures. If you have any questions or concerns about this or other matters, or you have a road or highways issue which is of particular concern, please contact Helena.wysocki@norfolk.gov.uk.
