Ten years ago, Atlanta voters passed the More MARTA referendum to fund public transit projects using a half penny sales tax. To this day, not a single project has been built. Instead of building transit, the city establishment has steamrolled voters, given handouts to corporate developers, and built Cop City. We deserve a green, affordable city and a government that invests in fighting climate change and raising the standard of living for working people - not militarized cops and luxury highrises no one can afford. This means following through the MARTA expansion as promised, including bus rapid transit and Beltline Rail. We can’t keep kicking the can down the road as the climate and affordability crises worsen. We need tracks on the ground NOW, and the willpower to make it happen. We need to get back on track and build Beltline Rail! No more gaslighting or empty promises. It’s time to deliver on the transit we’ve been promised and invest in Atlanta’s future generations who deserve to live in a green, walkable city.
