rich 1.0 Action Network https://actionnetwork.org <link href='https://actionnetwork.org/css/style-embed-v3.css' rel='stylesheet' type='text/css' /><script src='https://actionnetwork.org/widgets/v6/petition/clean-up-mimico-creek-humber-creek?format=js&source=widget'></script><div id='can-petition-area-clean-up-mimico-creek-humber-creek' style='width: 100%'><!-- this div is the target for our HTML insertion --></div> Etobicoke—Lakeshore NDP https://actionnetwork.org/groups/etobicoke-lakeshore-ndp-2 https://actionnetwork.org//images/generic_facebook.jpg To the Legislative Assembly of Ontario: WHEREAS an industrial fire at Brenntag Canada caused chemical sludge to spill and spread rapidly into Mimico Creek and Humber Creek in Etobicoke; WHEREAS countless local wildlife were injured or killed and  local habitats were contaminated as a result; WHEREAS local residents and visitors have been impacted and not provided with clear information about what chemicals spilled or how long they will remain in the environment; WHEREAS the polluter should pay for preventable spills  in Ontario; Therefore we the undersigned, petition the Legislative Assembly of Ontario as follows: The Minister of Environment, Conservation and Parks  publicly reveals  which chemicals were spilled and the risks they pose to humans, wildlife and the environment; The Minister provides Ontarians with a clear timeline and expectations for the completion of clean-up operations; Provides the Toronto Wildlife Centre with emergency funding to ensure effective and timely completion of clean-up operations; To strengthen the monitoring and immediate response capabilities of the Ministry and key collaborators such as the Toronto Wildlife Centre.
