The petition of the undersigned shows; that Traditional Custodians have called for the Joint Defence Facility Pine Gap (the Facility) to be closed, the land to be returned, and compensation to be provided for the occupation and use of their Country. Your petitioners therefore ask the Senate to: refer the operation and activities of the Facility to the Senate Foreign Affairs, Defence and Trade References Committee for inquiry and report, including consideration of: (a) the impacts of the Facility on Traditional Owners and their Country; (b) Australia's involvement in armed conflicts through intelligence sharing facilitated by the Facility; and (c) a process for the future closure of the Facility; legislate to provide for the closure and removal of the Facility and the return of the land to its Traditional Custodians; legislate to provide Commonwealth funding for just compensation and reparations to the Traditional Custodians for the occupation and use of their Country by the Facility; legislate to provide Commonwealth funding for just compensation and reparations for civilians in Palestine who have suffered death, injury, displacement or destruction of property. https://actionnetwork.org/petitions/close-pine-gap-convergence-petition-2026
