Recent news reports have revealed that seven children have died in custody in the last year alone [1]. In a Texas facility, "infants, children and teenagers were being held without adequate food, water or sanitation" [2]. Japanese Americans know all too well the experience and impact of incarceration on families and children: the lives lost and the trauma experienced, all resulting from racism and war hysteria. Today’s detention of immigrant families is not unlike the experience of Japanese Americans. Join former internees and their descendants in calling on our Senators to support: The immediate closure of all migrant detention camps. The immediate reunification of children with their families.
