Even employees with decades of experience make only $12.72. With inflation pushing up the cost of everything, it is too little to live on. Raising pay for custodians to $15/hour is a step forward in treating them with respect and dignity by giving them an actual wage. It is not close to a living wage but will help hundreds of our neighbors focus on keeping our schools running and not if they have to choose between buying groceries or paying rent.
