The deportation regime steals away community members and has begun targeting political organizers, such as pro-Palestinian international students and labor organizers for detention and deportation. As a hispanic and international serving institution, Texas State University must protect all members of the community, regardless of status, from arbitrary detainment. We need a sanctuary campus now. Our demands for a sanctuary campus are : Demands Publicly declare Texas State University a sanctuary for all of the undocumented. Instruct Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officers to remove themselves from campus, so as to allow all students, staff, and faculty to attend class and work without fear. Release an alert through the TXState Alert system were ICE officers to come onto campus, precisely detailing the incident. Affirm that Texas State University will comply with the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA), and that it does not disclose the immigration statuses of students, staff, or faculty. Ensure the protection of free political expression for international students, staff, and faculty. Ensure that students, in the event of arrest, detainment, and/or deportation, have access to online classes to ensure the completion of their degrees. Provide access to legal aid in case a student, staff, or faculty member is detained due to their immigration status. Investigate any individual that reports or threatens to report immigration status for harassment.
