The secretive US tech company has been mired in controversy over the use of artificial technology to expand government surveillance, ties to the Trump administration, and alleged contributions to human rights violations. In March 2026, the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) announced a contract between Palantir and the regulator enabling the company to access highly sensitive organisational data. While the FCA say the deal is part of a drive to catch-out financial rule-breakers, everybody should be concerned about tech firms accessing publicly-held data. There's a sign that the tide is turning on Palantir: on Sunday 29 March, the Financial Times reported that ministers are considering triggering a break clause on a contract with Palantir in the NHS.
