Currently, it is legal in Michigan to discriminate against a person in the workplace or in schools because of their natural or protective hairstyle. Hair discrimination remains a source of racial injustice with serious economic consequences for Michigan residents. The CROWN Act corrects these injustices by making hair discrimination illegal. Join the movement to shatter hair discrimination by signing this petition to urge legislators to vote YES on the MICHIGAN CROWN Act (MiCrown Act). In July 2019, the first Crown Act bill was drafted and passed in the state of California. So far, the law has passed in seven states or cities: California, Colorado, Cincinnati, New York, Virginia, Maryland, and Washington. Last year, State Rep. Sarah Anthony introduced HB 4811 to make the CrownAct a reality in Michigan. FIND YOUR SPECIFIC REPRESENTATIVE HERE: https://www.house.mi.gov/mhrpublic/frmFindARep.aspx
