The U.S. and Israeli right are selling these atrocities to us as a "battle for Jewish safety” to obscure their other political and economic interests. This dishonest framing is incredibly dangerous. As Jews of Conscience, we know that our safety and the safety of all other communities are fundamentally intertwined. We are deeply concerned by the actions of the Jewish Community Relations Council Bay Area (JCRC-BA) that fuel this right-wing agenda at the expense of safety for immigrants, students, and other residents of the Bay Area. JCRC-BA calls itself the “largest collective voice of the Jewish community” in the Bay Area, but their actions do not reflect progressive, Bay Area Jewish values. Therefore, we are calling on the JCRC to make their positions clear.
