In April, budget commercial passenger airline Avelo Airlines announced taking a $150 million contract to fly deportation flights for ICE out of the Mesa Gateway Airport in Arizona. Days later, the New Haven Immigrants Coalition launched a public campaign, viral petition, and boycott of Avelo Airlines in a series of pickets at the terminal of Tweed-New Haven Regional Airport, the airline’s largest passenger hub. The campaign has gained tremendous support locally including from a majority of the New Haven City Council and the Connecticut Attorney General, and the coalition is working to strip Avelo of state and city subsidies until it cuts the contract with ICE. It's time for New Hampshire to take part! Southern New Hampshire DSA fully supports the Avelo Boycott and calls on Avelo Airlines to end their dirty ICE contract, and all public and private partners of the airline to end their partnerships with Avelo until they do so.
