Wells is also a top funder of private prisons, profiting off of the mass incarceration of Black and Brown people and immigrant communities. Unacceptable! In Philadelphia, Wells Fargo has taken millions of dollars from the public schools and the city, all while kicking more Philadelphia families out of their homes than any other bank. They also have a long history of discriminatory, racist lending practices. Most recently, Wells was found guilty of corruption and fraud when it was discovered that they were establishing millions of fake customer accounts in people’s names without consent. This had a negative, direct impact on Philadelphia employees and bank customers!   Wells Fargo should not have our taxpayer dollars. Major cities all over the United States from Seattle to East Orange, New Jersey are divesting from Wells.
