In preparation for the 2026 legislative session we’re building support to keep the Cancer Gag Act off the table and to build momentum to fund solutions that protect our health and water. Check out our legislative priorities below, add your name to our sign on letter to your Representative, then share this with neighbors & friends in HD 36! CCI’s 2026 legislative priorities include: Ø Restoring funding for water quality monitoring sensors. The legislature must restore $500,000 in funding for a system of 60-70 water quality sensors across the state. Monitoring is an important first step to cleaning up our water. Ø Increasing funding for mapping our aquifers. Our aquifers our one of our most important resources but right now we don’t have a clear picture of how much water is in them. To make long-term decisions that protect our water we need to give more funding to our state geologist to map our aquifers. Ø Increasing funding for local conservation practices. Conservation practices are a major part of the solution to protecting and improving water quality and quantity in Iowa. County level officials are most connected to their communities and the needs in their area, we need to fund this work from the ground up.
