Put Real Rent Control on the Ballot

With $137,000 in political contributions from the Real Estate and Development industry Steve Hanson is in the pocket of big real estate interests and opposes Real Rent Control. Sacramento has the highest proportion of corporate landlords of any city in the state and we are feeling the effects of the tenants rights’ crisis acutely and suffering under some of the fastest-rising rents in the country. At the same time, stories are coming in from across the city of families receiving no-fault evictions as landlords seek to profit in an increasingly cut-throat housing market. We are standing together to demand Real Rent Control for Sacramento: protections for tenants that tie allowable rent increases to CPI, offer just-cause eviction protections, and oversee rental housing issues through a democratically-elected Rent Board.
