Protect Ontario’s Historic Baseball Field Jay Littleton Ball Park has served Ontario families for generations. The historic baseball stadium has hosted youth baseball games, community events, and even major film productions. The ballpark became nationally recognized after appearing in films such as A League of Their Own and The Babe, as well as television productions like The X-Files. For decades, thousands of local families and youth players have used the field as a vital part of Ontario’s community life. Today, the future of this historic site is uncertain. What’s Happening The Ontario City Council is considering several different concepts for the future of the site. These proposals include options such as: • multi-purpose sports fields • a splash park or water feature • a community center • rebuilding the historic baseball field Many residents believe the process so far has not provided sufficient opportunities for the broader community to participate in shaping the future of the site. What the Community Supports Residents supporting the Save Jay Littleton Ball Park campaign believe the best path forward includes three key steps. 1. Restore the Historic Ballpark Jay Littleton Ball Park is one of the region’s most recognizable historic baseball venues. Restoring the field preserves an important piece of Ontario’s history. 2. Reopen the Field for Public Use The field should be repaired and reopened so families and youth athletes can once again enjoy the park. 3. Preserve the Boy Scout Club House The Boy Scout Club House is another historic structure connected to the park and should remain part of the site’s future. 4. Engage the Community Major decisions about this historic site should include robust community outreach such as: • neighborhood meetings • mail and online outreach • opportunities for residents to provide input Why This Matters Historic places help define a city’s identity. Once a historic landmark is lost, it cannot truly be recreated. Jay Littleton Ball Park is more than a baseball field — it is part of Ontario’s story. Get Involved Community members can help protect this historic site. • Sign the petition • Attend upcoming meetings • Share your voice with city leaders • Follow updates from the Save Jay Littleton Ball Park campaign Together, we can preserve this historic community landmark for future generations.
