But all too often, the history books leave out that AAPIs have always been a core part of American history from as early as when Filipino sailors first visited what is now the continental US in the 16th Century. From building key American infrastructure like the Transcontinental Railroad to fighting at Gettysburg and leading core parts of the Civil Rights Movement, Asian Americans have literally built America and pushed it to live up to its core values. We know that American history has always been rooted in the rich stories of its people. It's high time we support a museum to tell AAPI stories.
