The facility has a long record of well-documented human rights abuses that include, but are not limited to, multiple reports of: 1. Indefinite detention as a result of a slow and nontransparent deportation process 2. Severe medical neglect, which, in March 2009, led to the preventable death of Roberto Medina-Martinez 3. Rotten, undercooked food that has been served containing maggots 4. Verbal and physical harassment Resources: In their 2012 report, "Prisoners of Profit: Immigrants and Detention in Georgia", the ACLU of Georgia documented countless human rights abuses at Stewart.
