Given his previous stint on the board and a grand jury indictment for abuse of power as Governor of Texas, Perry's return to a pipeline company responsible for so much climate destruction is alarming. While serving as the Secretary of Energy, Rick Perry not only supported the fossil fuel industry by meeting with major coal leaders and proposing to bailout the entire coal industry, but he has been mired in Trump’s Ukraine scandal. Eventually House Democrats were left with no choice but to subpoena Perry given his negotiation of gas deals with Ukrainian leaders. As Energy Secretary during the climate crisis, Rick Perry had a duty to everyone across the country to support the expansion of renewable energy projects. And now he has returned to that destructive energy. Given this and with other Trump officials like Interior Secretary David Bernhardt standing to privately benefit from deals made as a public servant, Congress must investigate Rick Perry.
