We want everyone to be able to have access to affordable electricity during the heat waves. No one should get their power turned off during a heat wave if they cannot afford to pay. That’s why we’re launching a new demand for utility justice: NO SUMMER SHUTOFFS! Eversource has a policy to not shut off people’s electricity in the height of winter to prevent families from freezing weather. But they don’t have a policy during the summer to protect people from heat exhaustion and heat stroke. With the cost of electricity rising, more people are struggling to keep up with their bills.
