Tell Congress: Stop Trump's Attack on Student Loans

	<thumbnail_url>https://actionnetwork.org//images/generic_facebook.jpg</thumbnail_url>

Donald Trump's Education Department is quietly rolling back student loan forgiveness credits that public servants earned under the Public Service Loan Forgiveness (PSLF) program – credits that teachers, nurses, military members, and nonprofit workers were promised. The agency says it's "correcting coding errors" from the Biden administration, but the effect is the same: borrowers who thought they were months away from having their student debt erased are now being told they owe more. One borrower saw their qualifying payment count drop from nearly 120 to 94 – adding months or years of payments before they qualify for relief. This rollback is happening while the Education Department implements changes required by the One Big Beautiful Bill Act, the sweeping Republican domestic policy law. Meanwhile, Federal Student Aid has been gutted – staffing dropped from 1,433 to 777 between January and December 2025. We're calling on Congress to pass legislation that: 1) Restores all PSLF credits that have been clawed back from borrowers; 2) Holds borrowers harmless for any errors they had nothing to do with; 3) Fully restores Federal Student Aid staffing so borrowers can get accurate information; Congress has the power to act and grassroots pressure has worked before. When the AFT threatened litigation and borrowers flooded Congressional offices, members paid attention. Combined with that pressure, an overwhelming wave of petition signatures can force Congress to step in before more public servants see the light at the end of the tunnel go dark. Sign the petition to tell Congress: stop the student loan forgiveness rollback, and hold borrowers harmless now >>
