It is wrong that local authorities should be propping up the fossil fuel industry – the main cause of the problem - through pension fund investments. Haringey Council has made a good start by moving 55% of its pension fund shares into low-carbon funds and renewable energy. But it should now move to 100% as soon as possible. The Haringey Pensions Committee meeting on 13 September will be discussing next steps.
