Every nurse deserves the staffing and support needed to provide that care safely. Prime Healthcare has allowed nursing vacancies to grow while bedside nurses continue to raise serious concerns about unsafe staffing conditions. Nurses have reported more than 100 unsafe patient care conditions this year alone, yet the warnings continue to go unheard. Instead of confronting the staffing crisis, Prime Healthcare is proposing contract changes that would make it harder to recruit and retain experienced bedside nurses. This is the wrong approach for our hospital, our community, and our patients. When there are not enough nurses at the bedside: Patients face longer wait times and delayed care. Nurses are assigned more patients than can be safely managed. Experienced nurses leave, making the staffing crisis even worse. Patient safety is put at unnecessary risk. Our community deserves better. By signing this petition, I call on Prime Healthcare to: Enact enforceable safe staffing standards in the collective bargaining agreement. Prioritize patient and staff safety. Fill vacant nursing positions and invest in recruiting and retaining experienced bedside nurses. Listen to the nurses who provide direct patient care every day. Stop proposing contract changes that undermine nurse recruitment and retention. Work collaboratively with bedside nurses to build a safer hospital for patients, families, and healthcare workers. Our hospital should put patients before profits.
