It’s responsible for fighting inflation, promoting full employment, and keeping our financial system stable. The Fed also has a legal mandate to respond to threats like climate change that could have serious impacts on the stability of our financial system if left unchecked. Lots of big banks are talking a big game about how they’re taking climate change seriously, but their actions speak louder than their words. Investing $4.6 trillion in fossil fuels since 2015 doesn’t sound like taking climate change seriously.
