Thanks to all of our work, calling on Congress to stand up to him, the shutdown is over. We said over and over that the government needed to be reopened. Our government can’t be held hostage over a political ideology or sound bite. While others helped from both sides of the aisle, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Senate Minority Leader Charles Schumer held firm, refusing to negotiate on anything until the government reopened. People’s lives and paychecks are too important to allow them to be used as bargaining chips. Send a thank-you note to Speaker Pelosi and Sen. Schumer.
