Allegheny Ave from Kensington Ave to Richmond St is part of the Vision Zero High Injury Network and we feel that the threat to life is not being adequately addressed with the current plans in place. Just in the past few months an elderly woman died in a collision and two children were involved in a collision. These instances happen regularly and we are tired of hearing news like this. The safety of our neighbors cannot wait any longer. While we understand that long-term solutions take time, we are requesting that the following actions take place by or before December 31, 2026. Install Automatic Speed Cameras Assess the Intersection at Almond and Allegheny Ave for traffic signal eligibility and install signal if so Install daylighting infrastructure at corners to prevent high speed turns and increase visibility for both vehicles and pedestrians Assess opportunity for temporary center line hardening to prevent drivers from using it as a passing lane Pass House Bill 291 to allow for parking protected bike lanes on State Roads Set a plan and date to begin engaging the community on a redesign of Allegheny Ave https://actionnetwork.org/petitions/we-wont-wait-for-a-safer-allegheny-ave
