Day of Action: Crossing the Susquehanna- Option 1: BOATERS

	<thumbnail_url>https://actionnetwork.org//images/generic_facebook.jpg</thumbnail_url>

This event is meant to call attention to Senate District 48. The district includes all of Lebanon County, a small corridor through southern Dauphin County, then a large area in the northeast part of York County. There is no way to cross from the eastern to the western part of the district by land or bridge, so we'll be taking boats across. Kayakers will meet Chiques Rock Outfitters at the Dauphin County Canal Lock Boat Launch at 10:30 to get boats, paddles, life jackets and flags and make sure paperwork is completed, then will join other attendees for a short press conference at the water's edge. Candidates for the special election as well as press are invited, as well as members of Fair Districts PA and League of Women Voters in Lebanon, Dauphin and the surrounding area. While boaters cross the river, others are invited to drive in caravan with car flags on their cars behind the Chiques Rock vans and boat carriers to the other side. Another group will be waiting at the Goldsboro Boat Ramp, in Goldsboro, York County to greet car caravan and boaters as they land for another short press conference and photo op. Chiques Rock Outfitters will drive boaters back to the Canal Lock Boat Launch parking area to reclaim their cars. Please be aware of the following: 1. This part of the event is dependent on both river and weather conditions. There is a small cost to boaters which will be reimbursed if the river crossing is not able to take place. 2. This is not an event for beginners. Chiques Rock will provide guides and monitor river conditions, but it is several miles to the other side, so some experience in paddling is needed. 3. This is not a bathroom-friendly event. There is an outhouse at the Canal Lock Boat Launch, but none on the Goldsboro side. Updates and last minute weather details and instructions will be provided. NOTE: Both single and double kayaks are available. Please indicate your preference.
