Through siege, blockade, and the systematic destruction of infrastructure, Israel has placed an economic chokehold on Gaza as well as the West Bank, making the question of how and where we direct our solidarity more urgent than ever. There will be a moderated conversation followed by a general discussion and Q&A. The event is being organised in collaboration with Tote Freedom. Tote Freedom is a grassroots direct aid initiative providing economic support to families in North-Eastern Gaza City. Their Gaza team uses 100 per cent of proceeds to purchase and distribute food, water, and other essential supplies. Their London team raises funds by selling tote bags, stickers, and other items at tables and events (including this one!) cutting out intermediaries so that money reaches the people who need it. As humanitarian corridors narrow and established NGOs face mounting political and logistical restrictions, mutual aid and direct support have become some of the few reliable channels for getting resources into Gaza. This panel brings together economic, legal and political analysis with first-hand accounts from organisers and academics working under multiple layers of oppression, to ask what effective decolonial solidarity looks like now. The event will be held at Reference Point and will include a Tote Freedom merch stall where you can buy merchandise and make donations. There will be music afterwards and opportunity to socialise and discuss what we have learnt. Venue Access Information The venue is fully wheelchair accessible.
