London Green Party conference When: Saturday 10 May, 10am-5pm Where: Birkbeck College, Malet Street, London WC1E 7HX At the general election, the Green Party not only won four MPs, but came second in 18 seats across London. As we begin the year leading up to London’s council elections, join Green Party members and supporters from across the capital for a day of talks, political discussion, training and movement building. We’ll be meeting just after the county council elections have delivered the first verdict from voters on Labour since the general election, and given us a sense of how much of a threat Reform is likely to be. Economist and activist Faiza Shaheen will be among the guest speakers joining us to analyse the situation, along with the host of the popular Macrodose podcast, James Meadway. We’ll also hear from Charlotte Minvielle, of the French Greens, Les Écologistes, on what we can learn from their experience of fighting the far right and their recent success. And of course we’ll be joined by Green members of the London Assembly Zoë Garbett, Caroline Russell and Zack Polanski to hear how the Green Party has made a difference at City Hall, and our ambitions for the future. More speakers will be announced soon, but book your place now and don’t miss this chance to skill up, be inspired and learn from each other. Practical matters The afternoon part of the conference will be open to non-members of the party. If you haven’t joined yet but are curious about the Green Party, this could be the event to find out more. The venue is wheelchair accessible. We’re not going to be providing tea and coffee, but there is a cafe in Birkbeck College and more in the surrounding area. To make the event as financially accessible as possible, we’re not charging for entry, but the cost of venue hire in particular is significant - so please add a donation to your ticket if you feel able.
