Nakba Day: Labour Stands with Palestine

Join Labour 4 Palestine Vancouver for Nakba Day: Labour Stands with Palestine, featuring keynote speaker Chris Smalls (Amazon Labour Union), along with Gabor Mate (affiliation), and Hanna Kawas (Canada-Palestine Association) for a night of resistance, mourning and celebration. Doors open at 5:30pm. Event Starts at 6pm. Music after 8pm (6pm-11pm) Nakba Day marks the anniversary of the catastrophic expulsion of the Palestinian people in 1948 by the Zionist Israeli state that led to the displacement of over 750,000 people. The escalated attacks on Palestine since October 7, 2023 have been called the second Nakba by several Palestinian groups and sparked the founding of Labour 4 Palestine in Vancouver. Workers with L4P have been working to build solidarity in the labour movement with Palestine ever since. Along with guest speakers, there will be greetings from Union activists who have taken action for Palestine liberation to reflect on the fight and build on the momentum. We will also be joined by local musicians to celebrate the solidarity work L4P has done. The proceeds for this event will go to Labour 4 Palestine to continue our work, and the General Union of Palestinian Teachers, who are working hard to support their students, teachers and education system which has been devastated by the genocide. The companies that profit from the continued destruction of Palestine also profit from our exploitation as workers. For that reason and so many more, the liberation of Palestine is a Union issue. Workers have power and we have a major role to play in the fight for Palestine, like international labour solidarity did in the movement against apartheid in South Africa. We hope to see you at this event and support Labour 4 Palestine as the fight continues!
