Eric and Catrine are a father and daughter team that runs Sussex Underwater – a community group promoting marine conservation by inspiring a love of local sea creatures. In 2021, through the work of people like Eric (who highlighted the devastating and long-term ecosystem damage caused by bottom-towed fishing gear), Sussex implemented a ban on fishing trawlers directly off its coast. Now, Eric and Catrine spend their time showcasing the extraordinary recovery already happening in Sussex Bay as a result of the ban, and as featured in the BBC documentary: ‘Our Lives, Our Seaforest’. Dive into the depths of the Sussex coast with us on 8 November as we explore the Kelp Forest Rewilding Project with Catrine and Eric. Tickets are £5 to cover costs and remunerate the speakers.
