TO ALL PUBLIC SCHOOL SUPPORTERS,

We ask that you sign this petition calling for a 10 percent pay raise for all employees of the Corpus Christi Independent School District. The Corpus Christi American Federation of Teachers, the only labor union for teachers and support professionals in the Coastal Bend, makes this request after careful consideration and extensive consultation with our membership.

Even before the COVID crisis struck, our members reported widespread concerns. Now, teachers must personally pay for all sorts of work-related costs just to do their job. Our current surveys also show the following:

• Over 55% report last year’s CCISD pay raise was insufficient.

• Over 67% report that school closures/online teaching increased their workload and worsened stress.

• 72% report that their healthcare deductible is more than they can afford.

• Working conditions create significant stress with 67% attributing their workload, 63% their current salary, and 55% their paperwork requirements as contributing factors.

To win this campaign, we need your support by signing and sharing this petition today. Share this petition with your friends, family, and coworkers. Share it with your acquaintances and Facebook friends. Share it online. Share it today.
