A full time job should keep you out of poverty--not in it. Over 1,200 full-time employees at Georgia Tech and thousands of graduate workers earn less than an annual pay of $43,600 or $21/hour. Not only do many GT workers earn a poverty salary that none can afford to live well on but Georgia Tech provides seldom and scant raises. As a result, employees with decades of service make effectively less than when they started as the cost of living in the Atlanta area has skyrocketed over the last decade. According to the Economic Policy Institute a survival wage for a single-person household in the metro area is $43,600 or $21 an hour.

United Campus Workers of Georgia (UCWGA) is committed to ensuring dignity, fairness, and equity for all who work for the University System of Georgia. We demand that Georgia Tech commit to the following:

1. Raise the minimum pay for all employees to $21 an hour or $43,600 annual salary;

2. Provide standardized, 12-month stipends for grad students of at least $35,000 after fees and insurance;

3. Guarantee an annual cost of living adjustment of at least 3%.
