Accept the Application for Concern For Living - CR 39, Southampton

Southampton Town Board

Concern for Independent Living has received nearly $20 Million in New York State grant funding to build 60 units of affordable and workforce housing off County Road 39 in Southampton, on land it will purchase from the Southampton Full Gospel Church.

Ralph Fasano, the executive director of the organization, has presented conceptual plans for the project, consisting of 6 10-unit buildings on 5 acres of the 9.4-acre parcel consisting of 36 one-bedroom and 24 two-bedroom units. A one-bedroom unit would rent for anywhere from $550 to $800 per month and a two-bedroom apartment would be between $1,100 and $1,200 per month. 15 apartments will be set aside for Veterans as well.

For this much needed Community Housing to move forward, the Southampton Town Board must formally accept the Concern for Independent Living formal application so it can go through the local board process including public hearings.

It is estimated that Southampton Township, alone, needs between 5,000 and 7,500 additional affordable homes and apartments to meet the needs of local community members. These 60 units would be roughly 1% of that goal. We can't wait any longer as our young and older adults leave our area because they can't find an affordable place to live.

Please sign this petition to encourage th Southampton Town Board to accept this application and begin the lengthy approval process for this much needed housing.
