ADD YOUR NAME: Shame on Joe Manchin for blocking voting rights!

Senator Joe Manchin (D-WV)

Sen. Manchin said he wouldn’t support federal protection of YOUR right to vote because he thinks that “protecting this right … should never be done in a partisan manner.”

I’ve got some news for you, Joe: The For the People Act was our chance to STOP partisan voting laws — and you just blew it.

Blocking this bill isn't standing up for bipartisanship. It's lying down and letting Republicans walk all over us.

Senator Manchin —

I'm writing to express my anger at your refusal to support the For the People Act, a bill that would protect the most fundamental value of our democracy — my right to vote.

In your op-ed in the Charleston Gazette-Mail, you said that "protecting this right ... should never be done in a partisan manner," but in fact, this bill was our chance to STOP partisan voting laws.

Because as Republicans have made clear, they have no such qualms. So while you tie the hands of the Democratic party, the GOP is running wild with laws to restrict access to vote by mail, limit use of ballot drop boxes, and everything else they can think of to disproportionately stop likely Democrats — particularly Black citizens — from voting.

Blocking this bill isn't standing up for bipartisanship. It's lying down and letting Republicans walk all over us.

It's not too late to reconsider, Senator Manchin — so PLEASE stand up for what's right and support the For the People Act!
