Lynn needs affordable homes at 811 Lynnway, not segregated luxury housing for the rich

Lynn is facing a housing crisis. Rent is out of control and we are being forced out of our own city. A corporate developer* now wants to build a seven story high rise at 811 Lynnway and so far refuses to include affordable homes. We do not want another building of extremely expensive luxury apartments that excludes most Lynn residents and creates segregation! This developer should commit to making 25% of the apartments truly affordable for people from Lynn.

* One of the companies involved, 811 LYNNWAY QOZF, LLC, is registered in Delaware and seems set up to use a tax break program for the rich created by the Trump administration.

We are Lynn residents concerned about the new development at 811 Lynnway.
Our community is facing a housing crisis. We do not want another building of extremely expensive luxury apartments that excludes most Lynn residents and creates segregation.
We believe this project should only be allowed to move forward if it has real benefits for our community. The corporate developer should commit to making at least 25% of the apartments affordable for people from Lynn.*
We will welcome new developments that help meet our community’s needs by providing some affordable apartments. But if companies can’t commit to inclusive projects, we will fight against their plans and demand they leave our city's land to be developed by people who really want to partner with our community.

* The affordable apartments should be targeted where they are needed. That means some of the apartments should be affordable to households with incomes at 50% of Area Median Income (around average for all households in our city). And some should be affordable at 30% AMI (around average for renter households in Lynn) and below.
