Attorney General Barr is unfit for office

U.S. Congress

Attorney General William Barr's fully politicized Department of Justice is taking full control of legal matters of interest to President Trump. This power grab has provoked at least 4 U.S. Attorneys to resign from former Trump advisor Roger Stone's case in protest -- and it's urgent that Congress responds.

Barr's first move was to walk back the Department of Justice's proposed sentence for Stone, a convicted felon -- just hours after Trump tweeted his displeasure at Stone being held accountable for his actions.

Barr has made one thing entirely clear: he has no intention of serving the American people. As long as he’s in office, he will continue to abuse his power -- and act like President Trump’s personal lawyer.

The Attorney General is supposed to defend our nation and our Constitution by making sure no one -- not even the president -- is above the law. And with a president like Trump, who’ll do whatever it takes to get his way, a strong and independent Attorney General couldn’t be more vital.

But instead, Barr is twisting the mandate of his office to do the president’s bidding. On top of his recent offenses, he brazenly misled the American public about Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s findings to cover for his boss -- and his Department of Justice attempted to bury the whistleblower complaint that kickstarted Trump’s impeachment.

The American people will no longer sit idly by as Attorney General Barr defends and obeys a president who has committed multiple impeachable offenses. We must call on Congress to take back our democracy -- by impeaching Barr and removing him from office.

Time and time again, Attorney General William Barr has abused his power and lied to the American public to minimize and cover up President Trump’s lawlessness.

We the People deserve better. Our representatives in the House must impeach Attorney General Barr -- and then the Senate must remove him from office.
