#CancelRent and Homes Guarantee Petition

Gov. Andrew Cuomo

During the uncertainty surrounding the #Covid19 crisis, many New Yorkers have found themselves economically unstable. We are demanding Gov. Cuomo to pass Senate Bill S8125 to suspend rent payments for certain residential tenants and small business commercial tenants and certain mortgage payments for ninety days in response to the outbreak of Covid-19

In our time of shared crisis, it is more important than ever to fight for policies that secures housing as a human right for our neighbors. Over half of New Yorkers are renters, and the current policy proposals at the State and Federal level leaves New Yorkers vulnerable to homelessness.

We ask that you take a pledge with us to demand Gov. Andrew Cuomo Cancels Rent and supports a Homes Guarantee for All in our post-COVID society we demand:

  • Cancel the Rent for All New Yorkers

  • Secure housing as a universal human right

  • Institute universal rent control

  • Fully re-invest in public housing

  • Build 12 million units of social housing to end homelessness in America especially as children and veterans are concerned

  • De-commodify housing to put an end to real estate and land speculation,

  • Establish a People’s Housing Commission

  • National Tenant Bill of Rights, reparations to reverse the impact of generations of redlining.
