I am opposed to the development of a new AMAZON MegaWarehouse in the Town of Wawayanda in Orange County. I am also opposed to any taxpayer subsidies for a 2.1 trillion dollar union-busting company like Amazon who now wants to use fracked-gas powered robots to replace their low-wage workers. The Town of Wawayanda is a small rural/residential town in New York with just 7000 residents. It is one of only three remaining agricultural districts in Orange County adjacent to the world-famous Black Dirt Region. Amazon’s low-wage jobs are dangerous and cannot support education, food, housing, and healthcare for a family of 4. These costs are supported by taxpayers. They have already received OVER 700 million dollars in subsidies from New York taxpayers and with begging bowl in hand they now want another 130 MILLION DOLLARS. All while destroying a critical agricultural area.

This project will bring an unprecedented amount of noise, traffic, and pollution 24/7 to the area which will be concentrated around environmental justice communities already burdened by the CPV Valley Fracked Gas Power Plant. The community has long been demanding that the CPV plant #BuiltOnBribes be SHUT DOWN. Amazon will be plugging into this same fracked-gas plant to power its robots using 9.5MW of power from CPV. This is three times the power consumption of the entire town and enough to power 9500 homes. Moreover their behind the meter contract will lead to increased costs for ratepayers. New York already has one of the highest costs for electricity in the country! This power will come from fracked-gas which creates the highest amount of pollution and greenhouse gases amongst all sources of power. Creating a climate crisis to replace low-wage non-union work is Amazon’s business model. Amazon should be renamed Frackazon!

Frackazon wants to compound this pollution with over 570 diesel trucks per a day and 2800 new cars per a day into this small community. Diesel pollution (along with fracked gas) causes high rates of cancer, asthma, and premature deaths, which local residents have already reported.

New York must protect its Air, Water, and Soil!
New York must protect its Children, Elderly, Pets, and Wildlife!

We demand all local and state agencies and officials say NO!!! To the Amazon Warehouse in Wawayanda.
