I signed a petition on Action Network telling Clark Hunt, Co-owner, CEO and Chairman;  Roger Goodall, NFL Commissioner to KC Chiefs, Change Your Name.

Native American stereotypes and imagery in sports is dehumanizing and racist. The NFL's recent campaign to #EndRacism is hypocritical while the Chiefs continue to use Native imagery and stereotypical behavior, i.e., the tomahawk chop and chant.   For decades, Native Americans and Native American organizations in Kansas City have been opposed to being used as mascots for profit and entertainment.  It is an embarrassment to our city to continue to use racist imagery upon the national stage.   The Chiefs must change their name and discontinue their use of Native imagery and behaviors. It is past time for a true understanding of Native American people and their contributions to society, rather than the continued caricature. It is time for the Kansas City football team to represent Kansas City in a way we can all be proud.
