Child Tax Credit Must Be Extended

President Joe Biden and Congress

Last July, 100 million Americans started receiving monthly checks through the expanded Child Tax Credit. These checks made a huge difference helping families meet basic expenses in an economy that is still on the rocks due to inflation stemming from the COVID-19 crisis.

Congress not only expanded the size of the checks ($3,000-$3,600 per child, per year, meaning $250 or $300 per child, per month), but they also made the Child Tax Credit "fully refundable," which means that even the poorest families who need it the most could get the benefit.

These checks are critical for families, for supporting small business, for reducing child poverty, and for increasing racial equity.

But Congress failed to continue sending these checks for those who need it the most, and they ended in December. We need to lift up our voices and tell President Biden and our members of Congress that they should absolutely extend the expanded Child Tax Credit.

Recurring, direct checks help our families and our economy, and give our struggling small businesses a chance to survive. With inflation continuing to play havoc with our lives, we need Congress to take action to extend the CTC now.

Yes! I want to make my voice heard.

Dear President Biden & Members of Congress,

You must extend the expanded, fully refundable Child Tax Credit.

• Child Checks provide relief — for rapidly rising costs of food, housing, the basics.
• Child Checks are the quickest and most effective way to get money into people’s pockets.
• Child Checks get spent, which boosts the economy and supports our communities.
• Child Checks help reduce racial and societal inequality.

That's why I support extending the Child Tax Credit.

I call on you to deliver more of the kind of relief most American families need to make it through these tough times.

Sincerely,
