Native Austinite and lifelong public servant Chris Riley has had a profound impact on Austin.

For decades - through service on Austin City Council, Safe Streets Austin, the Downtown Austin Neighborhood Association, Old Austin Neighborhood Association, Congress for the New Urbanism Central Texas Chapter, and more - Chris has championed active transportation and policies to make the city a more bikeable, walkable, and community-oriented place. The fruits of Chris's work can be seen in countless important ways in Austin stretching from decades ago right up to the present day.

Now, Austin City Council is honoring Chris by naming the Shoal Creek Trail between West Avenue and 5th Street "Chris Riley Bend." Find out more about this honor and about Chris's life of service.
