Combat income inequality: Demand the wealthy pay taxes on unearned income

All U.S. Senators

An important feature of the Affordable Care Act is that more than 20 million low- and moderate-income Americans get healthcare thanks in part to a small 3.8% tax paid by the richest Americans.

This 3.8% “net investment income tax” is on unearned income, such as capital gains, interest, and dividends―the way rich people make most of their money.  It does not apply to workers’ wages or salaries―the way most of us get paid. That’s why this tax is particularly important to combating income inequality.

But the Trump and Republican healthcare repeal bills will wipe out that modest tax causing 22 million Americans to lose their health care. We must fight back!

Sign the petition today to tell the Senate to reject Trumpcare and reject tax cuts for the wealthiest Americans.

The 3.8% net investment income tax applied by the Affordable Care Act is critical to extending healthcare to more than 20 million more Americans and addressing income inequality. We demand that you reject the Senate healthcare repeal bill that eliminates this tax, which mostly affects the rich. We must not have a healthcare system where the wealthiest Americans get a big tax cut and 22 million Americans lose their healthcare coverage.
