Consol Bristol, stop abuse of homeless people!

Jesper Primdhal, Director of Consol Tanning Salon

Consol Tanning Salon in Broadmead, Bristol has installed 'anti-homeless sprinklers' outside their shop to drench anyone unfortunate enough to try and find shelter there. In these freezing winter nights this could very well kill anyone caught by it.

As cuts and ‘reforms’ to benefits and social security combined with an ever worsening housing crisis force more and more people onto the streets we are disgusted by the heartless and selfish actions of Bristol tanning salon Consul and its director Jesper Primdhal.

Bristol's housing crisis is one of the worst in the country and anyone walking around town will have seen the explosion of rough sleepers. The leading cause of homelessness is eviction by private landlords and with rents rising all the time and wages far below what they should be we need to organise to protect ourselves and our communities. ACORN is doing exactly this - building a tenants' power and organising for decent, dignified and affordable housing.

As if being forced to live on the streets wasn’t dangerous enough, recently both the Council and local businesses have made life harder for Bristol’s homeless with belongings (and reportedly, tents) being removed to force people to move on.

Human beings are not rubbish to be flushed away because they are a nuisance or an inconvenience.

Back our demand that Consol remove these sprinklers and that Mayor Marvin Rees condemn these inhumane actions.

The members and supporters of ACORN Bristol demand that you remove the sprinkler system from your shop and meet with organisations supporting Bristol's rough sleepers to discuss positive ways in which you can support the homeless community.
